The Review
6 mince pies. Mincemeat pies made with a rich all butter shortcrust pastry filled with a luxury mincemeat containing vine fruits, almonds, walnuts and laced with COURVOISIER® VS Cognac.
‘I was expecting greatness and got better than averageness. These pies look like they will be fantastic with nice details around the edge of the pastry lid. They are close to being very good but I think they could do with a touch more filling. The filling is very tasty and not over powered with the Cognac. These pies do offer very good value for money for their class but lack the wow factor.’ – Paul
‘Nice, but not my favourite, as the alcohol over powers the taste of the mince meat, I prefer my alcohol in a glass!!’ – Su
‘The first thing I noticed when picking up the this pie was the weight, it felt heavy, densely packed with mince. It was easy to pop out of it’s little foil holder and the pastry had a nice colour and some simple, but pretty decoration – nothing too flamboyant. I took my first bite and was immediately pleased with what met my taste buds, the pastry was not overwhelming, instead a fulfilling flavoursome fruitful filling danced inside my mouth. It was a flavour that was to linger in my mouth for a long time after finishing the pie, it’s subtle hint of coconut very pleasant. The pie itself had a good amount of filling, more than some other so called ‘deep filled’ pies and helped stave off starvation before my lunch. Maybe a little sweeter than other pies I’ve tried, I found it appealing and would recommend it to all.’ – Mince Pie Virgin

I really enjoyed these pies. My favourite this year so far!
These were a staple product back in my uni days. I remember them being on offer for a time, served with a steaming cup of Twinnings Chai tea, my god I was nearly bankrupted by the end of Christmas for all the friends popping round for a Panad, pie and chinwag!
Superb supermarket example, look forward to tucking in once again!
