Not the most festive of boxes but having the pies loosely presented somehow improves the experience.

‘Upon opening the box you’ll be greeted with a gorgeous coloured pie, the pasty rich like no other pie before. The sides of the pies do have some strange flat edges but these were soon forgotten when the eating begun. I thought the pies might be a little pastry heavy when I took my first bite, but the pastry melted in buttery goodness, a rich aroma filling my senses. The balance of this pie is good, but not quite perfect, they could do with a fraction more filling as the first and last bites were not the best. Do they justify their price? The warm after taste I can still feel is saying ‘yes’, perhaps I should stop being the Mince Pie Virgin, and become the Mince Pie Whore – with an expensive habit! Thanks Piet.’ – Mince Pie Virgin

‘Billed by the Institute of Directors as ‘mince pie Nirvana’ and the only pie they rated as five star, Konditor & Cook had quite a reputation to live up to. Chic, modern packaging opens to reveal almost home-made looking pies, with a nicely glazed pastry. Bite into the pie and you understand what it’s all about: no sugary, deep-fill, boozy gimmicks – just a simple, under-stated, perfect mince pie with a home made, buttery taste. Most other pies conjure up images of soul-less production lines, manned by bored people in shower caps and white coats. Not this pie. It IS Christmas. Sublime. 10/10.’ – Macro

Photos do not do this pie justice. The homely feel is superb, but none the awkward mark on the lower left edge.

‘What a pie. I thought I had discovered El Dorado the second they were unveiled to me. They shine with a home-made look that reel you in. On first bite it strikes you that every other pie up to this point has been a complete waste of time. For them to be in the same world as this minced wonder is an insult to Christmas. The pie itself has an amazing taste, buttery, a little crumbly, perfect mince consistency and the real smell of class. I give it not one but two thumbs up.’ – Adam

‘This must be the best pie on the market, with exceptional buttery pastry and tasty mincemeat. I just wish that there wasn’t 70 miles of water between us and more of these fantastic mince pies. The pies definitely have the home-made look but hold together very well but still have the perfect level of crumbliness. The only thing that has stopped me giving this a 10/10 rating is the ratio of pastry to mincemeat, for me there is slightly too much pastry. These pies definitely live up to the price tag, a very enjoyable experience which last much longer than the time it takes to eat the pie.’ – Paul

    I agree with Radam, I was surprised how good a mince pie could be, these are in a different league.
